Second injectable cycle...anyone else on injectables this month?

Well, the cyst from my first injectable cycle is gone! Yay! I'm CD2 today and will start femara and menopur tomorrow. I will be taking femara days 3-7 and one menopur shot on days 3, 5 and 7. I produced three mature follicles on my first round, but ended up with a BFN and a huge cyst. Hopefully I'll have some better luck this month!

Anyone else on injectables this month?

Best of luck to you!!  I'm on my 5th day of follistim AQ.  This is my first cycle using injectable stims so it is all really new to me.

My last u/s was on Wed and there wasn't much action going on.  My next u/s is Monday.  When do you go for u/s?  Are you bding or IUI?

Hi Tanker Chic! Glad to have an injectable buddy this cycle :-) I'm actually not going back in until CD11, which is next Friday. I think there are two reasons for this...one is that I have never had any problems producing one or more follicles, and always ovulate more or less on schedule (just not getting a BFP), and two, since I don't have insurance that covers fertility, I think my RE is trying to keep the costs down a little this way. Not sure, though :-)

I'll probably be doing an IUI next weekend, or possibly Monday, depending on how mature the follicles are next Friday.

What cycle day are you today? If you just started the stims, I'm sure that's why they didn't see much on your last ultrasound. Hopefully you'll be able to see a few good follies (on the right side...right?) on Monday! Best of luck!

hey Heather5 I went in for my day 3 u/s and my cyst is gone too!!! I started my first follistim injection today. Will take 100mg of that day 3-7 and then go back in for u/s on Tuesday. Last cycle I produced lots of follies but about 6 mature ones and still BFN...figure it was too thin a lining. Looks like we're on the exact same schedule. :) Good luck sweetie!! This is my second round with injections too so hopefully the second times the charm for us both!!!

Oh wow! We really are on the exact same schedule this month! And we're both on our second injectable cycle, too. How cool! Yeah, let's hope the second time's the charm for both of us! I like that :-)

...oh, and first time's the charm for Tanker Chic!

OK, since we already have three "injectable girls" on here, I'll start a list:

Tanker Chic - CD?, Follistim, next sonogram Monday
Nevaeh - CD3, Follistim, next sonogram Tuesday
Heather - CD3, Femara/Menopur, next Sonogram 11-14

SSBD!

I'm on CD20 but only the 5th day of follistim.  My RE was giving me estrogen to thicken my lining and it acted like birth control and complete strunted all follicle development.  Basically put my cycle on hold.  On CD16 when I still had zero follie development, he started me on the follistim. I've never had such a long cycle in my life!! Usually my whole cycle is only 25 to 28 days long.  Ugh!! I honestly don't understand what all the focus on my lining is about anyway.  When I concieved with my son my lining was thin, so I personally don't put too much stock in all the thin lining biz.

Oh, no point in looking back now... only forward!!  Here is to big healthy follies for us all and on the left side for me!!

kmcarino: We'd love to have you as our cycle buddy! I'll add you to the list ;-)

Tanker Chic: OK, so it's the left side! I'll send you some "left-side follie vibes" for your next appointment then! That's interesting about the estrogen delaying your cycle. Did your doctor decide on the injectables after already using the estrogen then? Just wondering, because I think the injectables increase the lining too. While being monitored, my lining has usually been around 8-9, but on my one injectable cycle a couple of months ago, it was over 12mm!

Tanker Chic - CD20, Follistim, next sonogram Monday
kmcarino - CD10, Gonal-F
Nevaeh - CD3, Follistim, next sonogram Tuesday
Heather - CD3, Femara/Menopur, next Sonogram 11-14

I am going in for b/w and u/s today to see how the follcies look and how many there are.  They always have a hard time getting my blood since my veins are tiny so I am not looking forward to it but I am hoping for good results.  Just wondering...has anyone else been on Ganirelix for their IUI cycle to prevent ovulation?  If so, how many days did you take it?  Good luck to everyone and I'll keep you all posted.  I am so happy to have some cycle buddies this month!  Thanks for being there for me.

Yeah, we never even talked about the injectables until my cycle basically shut down because of the estrogen pills. So yes it was an after thought. Originally there was no plan to use the injectables. Which it really surprises me that the dr didn't know it was going to act like birth controll pills. He thought if I took them vaginally they would not have that effect but apparently he was wrong!!  All the estrogen really hasn't done much for my lining.  On cd19 it was still only 7mm and I would have thought it would be thicker than that, just because it had 19 days to thicken up.  Usually it is around 6 to 7 on cd12.

kmcarino: I've never been on ganirelix, so unfortunately I can't help you there. I didn't even know they did suppression drugs for IUIs. Buy hey...at least you don't have to worry about ovulating too soon. I've had that scare a couple of times, although it turned out to be for no reason :-) Best of luck with your appointment today, and keep us posted when you get back!

Tanker Chic: Yeah, that is kinda weird, but hopefully the Follistim has kicked those ovaries back into gear and you'll have some nice, ripe follies on Monday!

SSBD to everyone!

Tanker Chic - CD21, Follistim, next sonogram Monday
kmcarino - CD11, Gonal-F, sonogram and b/w today!
Nevaeh - CD4, Follistim, next sonogram Tuesday
Heather - CD4, Femara/Menopur, next Sonogram 11-14

I think a lot of patients start taking Ganirelix at least at my clinic they do so I am wondering if anyone on this forum has used it.  I think it is also called Antagon.
My appt. went well.  The blood test was not too bad but the one on Sunday will probably be.  It looks like I have around 8 good sized follicles and a lot more smaller ones.  My estrogen is 1600.  Does that seem high to you?  I go back Sunday and the IUI will be Tues. or Wed.  Thanks for your support.

Wow! 8 follicles! That's great! I think they say that estrogen levels are approximately 200 per mature follicle, so that would be exactly 1600 :-) Although, since you're going back on Sunday, your follicles probably aren't fully mature yet, but I'm sure the smaller ones are adding to the estrogen level too. Did your doctor say how many mm the follicles were?

Good luck with your next appointment this weekend, and fingers crossed for a successful IUI next week!

:-)

I'm getting estrogen done on Tuesday too. This is the first..they haven't ever done blood work before. Hopefully this helps increase my chances of a successful IUI this time around. After 7 of them it's starting to look dim!

A couple of months ago when I started on follistim I had 14 follies!! Only 6 were actually matured and I was worried that they were going to cancel my cycle..hopefully we have less follies this time around.

Heather5 what cycle day do you usually do your IUIs...I'm usally CD 16 and 17. I opt for two IUIs because of the fact that we can't BD to help our chances cuz of DH's vasectomy.

I really hope this is the month! We've all been waiting for this for soooo long!

I think the follicles ranged from 16 down to 12.  I seem to do better when they let me stay ont he Gonal for 12 or 13 days so by tomorrow or Monday they should be good sizes.  I wonder why no one else seems to take the shot to prevent premature ovulation?  How many days of shots do people normally take for their IUI?

Yay! More cycle buddies!

Nevaeh: I've usually had my IUI on day 14...and I only have one. But that makes sense that you do two because of your situation. I only had three mature follicles last time I did injectables, but I'm only doing three shots of 75 mg, so it's a pretty "mellow" inectable cycle. My RE was happy with the three and said he wanted to see up to four follicles. So we'll see how things go this cycle. I really hope this is our month too :-)

kmcarino: I think the number of days on injectables differ a lot from person to person. It depends on whether or not you ovulate on your own, how you respond, and your REs protocol. I think my RE is a little bit more conservative for IUIs than others. I know a lot of women take much higher dosages and for a lot longer than I do. As for the drugs to prevent ovulation, I'm not really sure how common that is for IUIs...but I would think it gives your RE more control over your cycle, which is a good thing ;-) Your follicle numbers sound great, by the way. They usually grow about 2 mm a day towards the end of the follicular phase, so the larger ones (around 16 mm) will probably be mature by tomorrow, and the smaller (around 12 mm) will be close too!

Fifi, butterflybabies and Tracy: Welcome! We'd love to have you guys! I'll add all three of you to the list. Let's hope for lots of BFPs on this thread!

------------------

Fifi - CD?, IVF cycle, Follistim/Menopur, next sonogram Monday
Tanker Chic - CD22, Follistim, next sonogram Monday
kmcarino - CD12, Gonal-F, next sonogram Sunday
butterflybabies - CD?, IVF cycle, Lupron/Follistim/Menopur, sonogram Monday
Nevaeh - CD5, Follistim, next sonogram Tuesday
Heather - CD5, Femara/Menopur, next Sonogram 11-14
Tracy - CD5, Follistim/Cetrotide, next sonogram Monday

P.S. Fifi/butterflybabies: I didn't know what cycle days you're on, so I left it "?" for now. Let me know and I'll update it :-)

Hi Ingy, and welcome to the thread! Sending you lots of SSBD for a successful cycle! I wonder if Lurcin has a different name here in the U.S., because I've never heard of it. Is it a suppression drug or an FSH drug? Just curious :-)

I will add your information to the list next time I update...
