Hi there,
My husband also has problems with the shape of his sperm. We will be seeing a specialist in February. I have one daughter but have been trying for my second for over a year!
You dont give any figures so I dont know how bad your hub's sperm is. My hubbys count and motility are within the normal range but morphology is only 5 per cent. The norm is 14 percent and above.
Many things can cause this... bad diet, drinking, smoking, taking, drugs or even exposure to heat, that is to say hot tubs, etc...
We have found that a high dose of vitamin C (2000mg ), zinc (80mg ) plus an over the counter multi vit for fathers to be is helping but we still need help to conceive.
I hope this has helped!!! Good luck to you!
Sorry forgot to say... no caffeine, healthy diet and exercise also have helped!!! xxx
Hello, my husband and I have also been TTC for 2 years. I'm 23 he's 28. He had a SA in 2008 and a repeat this year.Everythings normal except morphology. The first one was 4% and now he's at 20%. My specialist told us that anything above 30% is normal. The only thing we've changed is lowering his caffeine intake and he takes a multi vitamin and and extra vitamin E. I'm not sure who you should go see. Have you had any testing done on you? My Dr started us on clomid and had 2 miscarriage with that. We are currently doing the FSH injection of Follistim and will do an IUI because of my husbands low morphology. Hope this helps. Good luck with everything. Keep us posted.
Hi there,
I think there are 2 tests for morphology as the one my dh undertook was 5 percent and the info we were given relayed anything above 14 percent was considered within normal range.
Thanks a lot to both of you..very helpful answers..
we are trying for our first baby..
@ melon3,
my hubby's report- semen appearance -normal,semen viscosity - abnormal, sperm concentration - 42 million, motility - normal, morphology - unable to see any figures but has some deffects..
actually, it is little hard for me to understand the results..so only thing I know it's abnormal..so, Is there any other thing you want me to tell from reports pls let me know..my husband has healthy diet, he used to smoke, no drugs, very less intake of caffeine,he doesn't exercise though..so it might be the cause..
thanks again & good luck to you too :)
@ megan1111,
my OB/GYN has not recommended Clomid because I have a regular cycle and I ovulate every month so no need for taking this medication as she said..and I have done my blood work, vaginal ultrasound tests etc...all the tests are normal..so is there any other tests should be done, pls let me know..
thanks again & good luck to u :)
Hi there,
There should be a figure, usually a percentage for morphology. Your doctor should have gone through it with you so you could understand. Did he refer you to anyone else? Or did he say just to keep trying? 2 years is along time to ttc. In the UK, if you have been trying without success for 2 years a doctor refers you to a specialist.
Good luck
I think that would be all the testing needed for you. Those are the tests I had once we went to a specialist. Good luck with every thing and keep us posted!
Thanks for all the suggestions...we are going to see the specialist next month..hopefully, everything will be fine..
good luck to both of you too..
I went to see the specialist and he prescribed some tests for both of us..
for Him - another semen analysis and blood test.
and for Myself - Sonohysterogram (SHG) and some blood tests for harmone,Cystic Fibrosis etc.
so are they necessary to be done?? have u gone through these tests before?
pls suggest!!
thanks
