TTC through IUI - question about Menopur?

I am getting ready to turn 37 years of age and I have been trying to conceive for the past few years - went through testing (no issues on my end nor husbands, diagnosed with unexplained infertility).  I've tried clomid, femara, gonal-f and menopur over the past year.  My most recent IUI cycle was cancelled due to a poor response and estradiol levels dropped on menopur (150 iu); however, the next protocol is recommended to be menopur again - but at a higher dose of 300 iu (150 2x per day).  I have read mixed reviews on menopur and was hoping to gain some insight here with regard to success/effectiveness (or lack thereof).   So my question is this...is menopur an effective option and what was your experience on menopur in terms of response, dose, and pregnancy outcome.

I did my first IUI with clomid and had a very poor response (just 1 follicle and I ovulated a week late). My 2nd IUI they doubled my clomid and I got 5 follicles and ovulated on time. Sometimes just upping the dossage is all you need. Now I am doing IVF and my dr used the same protocol as Hoping2BAMom and Jennie1211 with Menopur, Follistm and Lupron and I just had my egg retrieval today and got 20 eggs. I definitely believe Menopur is effective.  Good luck!!!

I did the exact same protocol as Hoping2BAMom. I turned up pregnant on the first try, luckily.

I did have success with Menopur.  I used it in conjuction with Lupron (to suppress ovulation) and Follistim (stim drug) in my last fresh IVF cycle.  I produced more eggs than I did in my previous cycle where I used Follistim alone (I went from 4 eggs to 12 eggs).  They transfered 2 eggs from that fresh cycle and unfortunately they did not take, but we also had one frozen embryo from the same cycle.  We transfered that frozen embryo a few months later and I am now 20 weeks pregnant.

I took menopure twice and it worked for me but I haven't gotten pregnant yet. I've now since moved on from IUIs to IVF.  Good luck :)

Hi I've just done IVF using menopur... I had a better response with menopur than when I was on Puregon in my previous cycles. I started at 225iu daily which went up to 250iu in the last few days. I'm in the 2WW so can't tell if it's worked out this time yet. Hope this helps, good luck.
