Time to see RE?

I finally got a referral from my gyn to see a RE. I just want some reassurance that I'm doing the right thing. We've been trying ttc for 2 years. I've had one ectopic and one mc. Since may(when I had mc) I've only had two periods. I'm on CD95 now, with no signs of O. My doctor refuses to do anything until I've gone 1 1/2 years w/o getting preg. Now, even on his referral papers, he sounds a bit perturbed about my asking to see an RE. Do you guys think I'm going about this the right way? I have such a good gyn, and I feel so bad for making him upset at me!

I think your doing the right thing! I agree with pixijal maybe you should look into getting a new gyno! I have asked my re to refer me to an new gyno when i get preggo, because my other incompetent gyno failed to have me checked for endo even although i had been seeing her for a number of years with complaints about bad periods! I wish you all the luck in the world:)

You shouldn't care what your doctor thinks or what other people think.  If you are young and you've been trying to conceive and you've been unsuccessful and it's been a year then you should go see an RE.  Demand it and don't feel bad about it.  If you are over 35 then give it 6 months as times a ticking.

You want the baby right!  For heaven's sake you shouldn't care what anyone thinks if you want to see a specialist.  Geez, if you didn't get the referral from one OBGYN go see another one. Keep going to the person who gives you what you want.  Don't let these doctors tell you and dictate to you.  ESPECIALLY if you have an HMO....they are so tight with referrals then because it's all about money.

you are doing the right thing. You will be so happy and wonder why you didn't go to a RE sooner :) I am mad I didn't start going sooner. You are doing the right thing :)

I hate when Dr's don't want to refer. Shame on your gyn. Its no skin off their backs. You definately are doing the right thing. Even if you have gotten pregnant in the past there is no harm in having a RE assess your situation. I hope things work out for you!

Congratulations!  It's about time! My ob/gyn sent me after 6 months!  Maybe you need a new ob/gyn as well who is actually sensitive to your needs.  If he acts like this now, wait until you actually DEPEND on him for the reassurance of not only your health, but your unborn child.  You may want to check into that!  Congrats on getting the referral, and I wish you the best in TTC!

Yes, you're doing the right thing.  You should see a specialist if you have been TTC for 1 year, 6 months if you are older.

Thank you all sooooo very much! I definitely needed the reassurance today after reading his comment on my referral papers. I am not as worried about getting pregnant as getting my periods regular so that I have a chance to get pregnant! I would like to have more than 4 or 5 chances a year to conceive! Once again, THANK YOU for the encouragement!!!
