confused

I am 40 years old and my period comes every 21-23 days. I had my tubes clipped and burned 12 years ago after my fourth child. I had my period in the last week of January ending on the 27th. I started bleeding lightly on the 9th of February for three days. My period is due February 19-20. I've been going to the bathroom like crazy and having lower back pain along with headaches. I took two hpt but both said not pregnant. I'm over weight, but my lower pelvic area feels bloated when I lay on my stomach. Plus my energy levels are up and down and one minute I feel like crap and the next I feel ok. Is it possible that I may be pregnant? It is driving me nuts and I have a dr.'s appointment on the 25th. Should I take another hpt if my period doesn't show this week?

Hi there,
Tubal ligation can cause pregnancy if the procedure fails. Urine pregnancy test is a very sensitive test for diagnosing pregnancy if done correctly. I think you have taken the test too early. It detects the presence of beta hcg in urine. If the test is positive then you are pregnant. The other symptoms and signs suggestive of pregnancy are sore breasts, increased urine frequency, nausea; fatigue which you have been experiencing. Take up the test after you miss your periods. This is merely an advice and not a substitute for clinical examination. Consult a doctor for more queries and assistance.
Best luck and take care!
