day 3 trasfer with 8 cell

Hi there,

This is the first time i have posted on and i'm desperately looking for advice. I'm 34yrs and been TTC for 2 years. This is my first cycle of ivf. At the stimulation stage my follicles were apparently slow to respond to Gonal F 225. They finally reached 20mm by day 17. ( am i right believe this might decrease egg quality? I heard most people reach optimum size between day 10 - 14?) Then the egg collection was done on day 19. There were 9 eggs, 6 of which fertilised. Then 2 Grade B embryos with 8 cells were transfered on day 3 (last week) The embryologist called this morning to inform me that the remaining embryos which they were growing have stopped, so nothing to freeze. Does this mean the embryos inside me have probably done the same?
Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated! :)

Thank you

I also had day 3 transfer and the rest stopped growing, so nothing to freeze as well.  My son will be 8 month old tomorrow.  So don't worry.  Please relax.
Let pray for the positive beta test.
Good luck.

Hi there,

My clinic only gives enough for 15 days. They said it's because at that stage, the embryo will be looking after itself if your cycle is normal, so if you reach beta day and all is good, there will be no need for any more.

Hey, Thanks. I'll call them and hopefully gets some answers. It's so confusing when different clinics have different protocols isn't it!
Thank you :)

Does anyone know the answer to this please - i'm so confused...
I've been taking progesterone suppositories and about to run out. So i called the clinic today to ask for more but they've told me that i'm to stop taking them now. I'm only 4 weeks pregnant and i keep reading that people have been taking them up to 12 weeks! They said it's because i had a fresh cycle rather than a frozen one. Does this make sense to anyone?
Please help with any explanations?!
Thank you :)

Thank you both so much for your posts and well wishes..
TTCAkpu - yes, very similar story isn't it, therefore very hopeful for you too.
I stlll fell as if my AF is about to start - back cramps, pinching sensations in lower abdo. It started about day 10, nothing earlier but everyone is different so don't worry. I was actually 100% convinced that my AF was coming. I even looked into when i could start the next ivf cycle! So it just goes to show that over analysing doesn't pay off. (it's impossible not to though isn't it!) :)
Good luck. My fingers and toes are crossed for you. Keep in touch if it helps....

Am so excited for you, your story is like mine, had a little problem when i started but later everything flowed well, had 8 eggs collected only 5 fertilized, had a day 3 grade B 8cell embies transfered and am waiting. Fell so worried, i have had twinges in my vafinal area and belly as if my AF wants to start. Still kepping my fingers crossed and praying my story ends beautiful like yours. did you have symptoms that earlier? am only 4days after transfer. Am 34 and this is my first cycle. Please share your experience. Congrats again.

I can't believe it but i've tested positive this morning. I just hope it reassures or encourages others that it can happen when you least expect it. My follicles were so slow to grow and i kept hearing that this reduces the quality of embryos, then we had a day 3 transfer which again i kept hearing wasn't favourable over a 5 day so we weren't hopeful. I can't believe it!
Good luck Akpu and Hoping2BAMom - i have everything crossed for you!

I'm 38 and this is also my first IVF cycle and I too am constantly worried.  We've been trying for about 5 years and had one natural pregnancy that ened in a miscarraige at 7 wks and one failed IUI attempt.  I had a 3dt of the only two embryos that made it through the ER and fertilzation process.  The embryologist said they were grade B 8 cell embryos.  I have my Beta test on 4/4 and the wait is killing me.  I know I probably shouldn't try a HPT until at least this Sat (10dpt) maybe even Sun??

Babywanted556...

Thanks so much for your encouraging story and HUGE congratualtions on your precious baby boy!  It gives me hope that this can work for us.

There are RARELY, false positives on a HPT - so you're most likely preggers :c)

The good news is, they always transfer the best embryos.  Most often, only 25% of patients have embryos for freezing, but close to 50% get pregnant, so no worries!!

Thank you so much for your reassuring reply! Congratulations on your baby boy!!
I'm now day 12 post embryo transfer and i've had a very very faint positive result this morning. I don't know if i should be excited about this or perhaps it needs to be a darker line? I'm staying positive! :)
