eggs fertilizing

I am 42 years old. 1st ivf cycle did not work 2 months ago. I had egg retrieval yesterday. Nurse just called to tell me th out of 16 eggs, only 4 fertilized. I am so worried about the low number and about them making it to thurs. Any words of encouragement or advice? I'm going crazy!

Hi, I'm 34 and only had 4 mature follies at the time of my retrieval in sept '13. (Dx with diminished ovarian reserve)  3 eggs retrieved, none fertilized on own but all 3 did with ICSI.  1 5d blast transferred, 1 frozen, as the 3rd sadly didn't make it to freeze.  Got pregnant from the single blast transfer of the fresh cycle and I'm 24w4d pregnant today!  Hope this helps to encourage others with low numbers.  Best wishes to all of you!

Hello! I am 40 and had my first IVF cycle last year. I, like you had 18 eggs and only three fertilized and made it to 5 day embryo.

We transferred two in Oct that was unsuccessful.  Before we transfer the last embryo we are starting over with a fresh cycle.

I just started my Lupron last week and I go for my first B/W and U/S tomorrow.

I understand how you feel. They will survive! Be blessed!

I'm hoping those 4 are your strong fighters. Everyone says it only takes one to become pregnant. It won't do you any good to stress. I hope you have a couple good ones for transfer in a couple days. Please keep us posted and best of luck to you
