Thanks for your recommendations. I will talk to my doc about more of this info.I appreciate everything.
Robyn - I think those stats that were given by this doctor are fairly accurate about getting pregnant naturally. Unfortunately the stats for IVF for women 40+ are pretty bad. It's hard to get a good quality embryo from those of us who are 40 and over - the procedure's so hard on our eggs.
I would think trying to get pregnant on your own would be good but perhaps also adding some meds like Follistm or Clomid? I don't know much about them but have read a lot and that sometimes seems to help move things along. What about doing an IUI w/a trigger? What does your re think about that?
I'm no expert but I don't think the quality of our eggs in one IVF cycle should be taken as determining the quality of your eggs in general. As for the different stats that are being thrown at you, I am sure there are many women in their 40s on this site who will confirm that it's not easy to get pregnant on your own but at the same time, I know several women in their early to mid 40s who have had one or two children in the last couple of years. It does happen.
Sorry, I don't think this is very helpful. I just don't think you should put too much stock in statistics of that kind.
