They are just checking for cervical cancer when they do a pap smear.

They do many many many other tests to check your fertility.   Are you having problems?

No, the pap does nothing for you in the baby making area. Are you having trouble concieving?  They usually wont call it "trouble" unless you have been trying more than a year wiht no sucess. If that is the case they often first do a sperm analysis on hubby, then they will do blood tests on you, look at the inside of your uterus, tubes, and ovaries (HSG), and many many many more things.  First of all thbey will want to know if you are ovulating, which they can detmine through blood tests,  then often they try dryg therapies before doing anymore invasive tests....  there is a lot to know.  However, the basic answer to your question is that getting a pap test doesnt tell you anything about whether or not you are fertile.

No- pap testing is just a scraping of cells off the cervix to see if there are any abnormal cells.  If there are- they start testing for HPV- Human Papilloma Virus- the virus that can cause Cervical cancer.  All they are checking for is the cells and whether they are normal/abnormal.
