One thing to consider is for instance my insurance will not cover assissted reporduction treatments like IUI or IVF but it does cover all the dr visits (with fertiltiy specialists), the tests, the ultra sounds and medications. This greatly reduces the cost of IUI and IVF if needed.
Mine is Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal. If University of Washington is a state school, they probably have some pretty good insurance options. Best of luck to you!!
Only about 13 states have a law that mandates insurance companies to cover infertility treatments. Some states (like CA) actually exclude IVF but other treatments have to be covered. I believe Washington is NOT one of those states that mandates infertility coverage. I am sure UW has a good health care coverage. If you have options, you may have to go with a non-HMO insurance. Typically HMOs do not cover infertility and in general limit access to specialty care. So, you will have to do some research on what options UW offers (if any) and whether infertility is covered by any insurance available to you. When I was at UC-Berkeley they offered basically no choice of insurance! Good luck!!!!
