You might just not be ovulating, and if you're not ovulating, you won't get your period. If you're not pregnant, and you're not trying to get pregnant, your doctor could put you on birth control pills to help regulate your cycle. If you're trying to get pregnant, on the other hand, he/she will probably give you a fertility medication, like clomid, to help you ovulate.
As for the blood test, it's probably a progesterone test. If your levels are low, it means no ovulation. (Unless your doctor is talking about a pregnancy blood test).
