I have been TTC to over a year now. My GYNO scheduled me for a HSG on Monday. I have heard good and bad about the procedure but honestly I feel that whatever pain I may experience will be worth it to be able to get some answers. I was diagnosed with MS 2 years ago at age 26 and have this awful feeling that I may never become a mother and will only be known as the girl with MS. I have been reading a lot of the posts on here and am wanting to know the opinion of women who have been able to conceive after having an HSG? I am keeping my EVERYTHING crossed that I may be one of the lucky ones =)

Hi there,
I had mu HSG done this month. i can honestly say for me it was no worse than a smear test. i took pain killers an hour before hand and bearly felt it! I had mild cramping afterwards but nothing bad! I have just found out that Im pregnant after a year of trying!! so the HSG worked for me and i know it has worked for others on this site!

good luck to you!!

Correction: I meant to say: "to increase chances of pregnancy" not "pregnancy test" lol...

I don't think the purpose of HSG is to increase pregnancy test. From what I understand, it is only a diagnostic test to check whether your tubes are blocked and how your uterus is shaped. I know it happens sometimes that the liquid they use during the procedure can unblock the tubes and that, of course, can help achieve pregnancy, but other than that, I don't think it increases your chances of getting pregnant if your problems lie somewhere else.

I got my HSG done as soon as I was diagnosed with PCOS, and that was just to check if there was any other issue involved, but, luckily, the HSG showed open tubes and normally shaped uterus. It was the most painful procedure that I have had done since I started treatments, but it was definitely worth it!

Good Luck with your test.  I also had 2 HSG's.  My 2nd one was alot better but they were still not that bad.

i've had 2 HSG.  They aren't fun, but it wasn't that bad.
a bit of cramping when they inflate your tubes, but it went away immediately after they stopped.
good luck!
