First IVF day 5, 4 follicles

After 4 failed IUI's I have decided to move forward to IVF. The process has been overwhelming to say the least.  Anyway today is day 5 and I went for my first scan.  I was told I only had four follicles and the cycle may get cancelled.  The dr. stated they like to have at least 6 follicles.  My question is twofold, one, has anyone proceeded to retreival with a low number of follicles and been succesful?  Secondly, is it possible more follicles will grow and mature prior to retrieval?  I'm on Folistem 300 and Menopur 150.

My 4th IVF cycle was canceled because I had 1/2 as many eggs then I normally do and they were not growing like they should of by day 7 of follistim and menopur. I much rather my RE cancel my cycle then pay 15,000 for a bad cycle. Yes it's a little disappointing but it saved me a lot of money in the long run.  Best of luck to you. If I can help in any way please message me.

I had the same issues with the lack of follicles.  The first RE I went to told me the same thing, they canceled my IVF and did an IUI - but it ended in a BFN.  I then was referred to a place in NYC - New Hope Fertility.  They are willing to work with ladies who only produce 1 follicle. You may want to look into it, I tried several times with my own eggs (or I should say egg) but I never got pregnant.  However, thru New Hope I used donor eggs and in May gave birth to twin boys.  This entire process is overwhelming but always be your own advocate.  Please let me know if you need anything else. SSBD!
