Empty Follicles and Hormone Levels

I just had my first failed IVF. I have six follicles, but no eggs. I’m 37 Y/O; I am obese (morbidly?) with a BMI of 41 and I am insulin resistant. I had my blood work done today, which is a full week (or 6.5 days) post-trigger (subcutaneous Ovidrel). Also, the REI saw two corpus luteum on one ovary. E2 was 244 and P4 was 2. The REI nurse said that the numbers meant I never had any eggs, but why is my E2 so high? Is it possible that I didn’t ovulate? Might I still ovulate? Or, should I start looking at donor eggs?
Any thoughts?

He claimed I had no eggs and wants me to do estrogen priming. I'm just confused why the estrogen was high and there were no eggs. It seems like I had about two but the ovulation was sufficient to mature and release them.

I'm sorry this IVF cycle did not turn out as planned.  I am not sure what exactly happened in your case with the E2 being a bit over 200 and no eggs.  I can tell you I just had an IVF case canceled because I had two lead follicles and all the rest were lagging behind because my E2 was only feeding those two follies.  My E2 indicated it wasn't worth while to go thru with egg recovery.

So you had the egg recovery and found there were no eggs in the follies? Since you say your insulin resistant do you take any medication like Metformin that may help? Do you have pcos?
You should consult with your RE and see what he advises you.  For me this was a fluke thing (I've had 7 other IVF's) before this happened.
I hope your RE can give you enough info to make the best decision for you.
