Wanna say big big good luck for tomorrow!
Its all gonna be fine I am here if you need me big hugs
& of course loads & loads of SSBD

I am going through my first ivf cycle and just had my first day 5 u/s.
I only have 8 follies :( We are paying out of pocket and I was really hoping that we'll have something to freeze but with only 8 follies there is no chance. I feel soo depressed. What LvnEmbryos said about trade-off between quantity and quality makes me feel a little bit better but it's all so stressful.
I just wanted to wish you luck and tell you that I can relate to what you are going through.
((HUGS))
That is fantastic news! See positive energy can make all the difference (I think so -- at least). We try and keep positive thoughts WHENEVER the embryos are out and around -- sounds silly I am sure but we are firm believers in positive energy -- we call it good lab karma :c) GOOD LUCK and keep us posted!!
Hi,
Thank you so much for your reply it really means a lot to me.. I went in for another scan today & now have 9 follies on the left & 7 on the right so ive decided im not going to stress myself out about this anymore.. im due to have egg collection on 23/4 not long now so will soon know!! will just keep praying for my little miracle, thanks again for your support big hug xxx
Hey there! I imagine this is SO stressful but I will tell you more is not always better. We'd rather have 5-10 nice mature eggs that 30 poor quality immature eggs. That being said, some people will have 30 and they will all be fine too -- its so variable from person to person AND from cycle to cycle. We have had patients have no embryos after one cycle and 2 for transfer and 10 to freeze with the same meds...KEEP THE FAITH!

Thank you for your words of encouragement it really means a lot to me... magda I was going out of my mind but figured there's nothing I can do about it & stressing's not going to help me... I was just so shocked I kind of assumed that I would respond the same! "just another little reminder of how unpridictable ivf really is" thanks & SSBD xxx
In your case, I don't think age should be a problem. But I also wouldn't worry too much. Having said that, personally, I'd be going out of my mind. ;-) But that's just me... there'd be no reason to. At the end of the day, what Critter8 said is right... the more does not necessarily mean the better. I had 30+ follies the first 2 times and this last time I went with a different clinic and he said he didn't want me to respond that well because he would prefer fewer, better quality follicles. I admit I was nervous about it but in the end, I was similar to you in that, he ended up giving me about the same amount of stim meds and yet I produced only 14 follies. I ended up with 3 excellent embryos and 2 okay ones and was told that that was a surprisingly low fertilisation rate. apparently the norm is 70% or thereabouts.
Don't stress too much... 7 is really not so bad. I think when we start off producing many we get very freaked out with anything less but really, it isn't such a big deal.
Best of luck to you!!
Hi there, the same thing happened to me, first ivf i had 15 follicles and when i did my 2nd round at the same dosage i got 2 follicles, possible 3! My doctor said that is what PCOS does to you, one minute you respond well the next you go backwards. So the 3rd round, i had 10 follicles (he upped the dose though). He said it is all trail and error, also age can have a factor too. Hope this helps and also my doctor mentioned that alot of follicles is not always great as the eggs aren't as great quality (usually most are immature or deformed). I wouldn't be too worried, 7 is still a great number
