I do take 400 mg of folic acid a day and voltern 75 mg bid, still doesn't take the pain away, living with pain daily sure dampens things.. My biggest pain is in neck and shoulders, hips. Some days I just wanna throw all my meds out the window, and see if that works better! haha
I started taking a high dose of Vitamin B12, B9, and folic acid daily and my calf muscle pain has lessened. It took a few weeks but it's helping. Before that, the only thing that helped was pain medicine but it was only temporary.
have you spoken to your doctor about a prescription ansaid? There are several and they might have to trial & error until one works.
Have you tried cutting out salt and sugar? (I'm referring to processed..not naturally occurring). That's somewhere to start, at least. Weight gain is a drag, and doesn't help the matter.. physical and emotionally. When I got diagnosed with ITP I totally changed my eating habits, and I have yet to have a leg cramp since doing so (and I lost weight without really trying! :D) I stopped eating salt, sugar, dairy, and gluten. Rough at first, to be sure... but it's suprising the things that will get fixed naturally.
Just a thought. *shrug* I'm no doctor... just an opinion.
Have you looked at other aspects of your life? Do you get outside and enjoy fresh air? Low stress? (That's my killer, for sure) Food for thought. :)
Dear pooh-I use hot baths and stretching. i am also on a bunch of meds from my doc, have you seen a PM Doc or a Rhuemy yet? Pain is an awful thing to deal with day in and day out. But there are lots of medications on the market that can make life much more managable. Sometimes, it just takes trial and error and a very good Doctor. hang in there!
