Pain Patches?which one is best?

I would like to hear any opinions from people who have had good luck with pain patches, which ones have worked well and at what strength.  I recently started using a fentinal patch to help with my fibro pain.  IT IS NOT WORKING!!

As all of you on here, I am in so much pain.  I can't get anything done, if I try to do one thing like iron a shirt, I am dizzy, nausious, so fatigued, ears are ringing, vision is bad, neck and shoulders are screaming with muscle spasams then to top it off I sneezed and now my low back is in so much pain I can't hardly move without wanting to scream.  Some one please tell me this will get better, I think I am going to just have a freaking breakdown, I could cry over anything, and I do mean anything.

The only way I can get anything done is to lay down about every 30 mins for about 15 or 20 mins, or else I will just start vommiting

I need to get this under control,  before I get back to work or else I will be calling in sick all the time then I won't have a job to worry about.

Sorry to go on and on, this day has just been so challenging, and I feel like I am losing the challenge.

Again any suggestions on what pain meds are the most effective, so far I have had muscle relaxors, Lortab, tramadol, sleeping pills, and probably more I just can't remember which also seems to be a problem for me all the time.

Thanks bdm92

Thanks for your response.

I am on a very low dose right now since it is my first time trying the patch, but I go back in a coupole of weeks and I hope to have it increased.

I have had two spinal surgeries and the one I had this past march was a fusion in the cervical spine and the doctor said that is what has set this fibro off.

I do have a great husband and two childeren, but I am sure my husband is tired of being around me I am so grumpy and feel so lazy, with no energy to do much of anything.

I haven't been back to work since my neck surgery, so I need to get this under control before I go back, or else I don't know if I will be able to handle it or not.

It doesnn't sound like you have had much luck with pain meds.

I am at the begining of this fibro stuff I just hope I can learn to cope with it, it just seems to get me down so easy.

Thanks again for your response

Hi

like most of us its all trial and error like i've found sinnce i got this awfull disorder a long with bulging disks after a car accident back in 2005 nov.

I've tried it all, parkinson medicine, fentannal patch at 75 one away from the highest does,lyrica,anti-depressants, acupan (pain killer) the natual approach like acupunture, chiropractor, an oestopath, and now am trying hydrotheapry have to be hoisted in as i cant do any steps have a stair lift in my home. But i've tried this once and i was in bed for a week.

I've gone through stages with this illness but never beyond getting out of the house i am always house bound but at least i'm not bed bound like i was for 2 months in agony not being able to move.

I have 3 young children and have gone from a carer as my work to having carers coming in looking after me as due to my illness my husband left the stress and financial situation was too much for him and the drugs really effected me as a person and still do.

I really know how you feel and i dont know if you are like me and have no family support but its so hard to live daily with pain and not know what to do about it so i really feel for you.

My auntie uses whats called a sublingal morphine as she cant use patches and that dissolves under her tongue and she takes one every 6 hours but it does not cover you like the patches which release pain medication every hour so you are covered all the time.

What dose where you on?

I have also tried lyrica, and neurontin in the past, but the side effects were too much for me.
