Lidoderm patches

Do any or many of you use Lidoderm patches for pain?  I used them some before getting Trimadol and still think about using them along with the Trimadol, but have some concerns.  For several days I used them on hip, leg and knee (by instructions for number of patches and length of time) and did get some relief; however, my calf is swollen and very, very numb to the touch, but also burning badly.  I'm thinking that this is just a new thing for me (nerve pain being this bad) and that it is part of the disease rather than the Lidocain causing those symptoms.  But thought I'd better put it out there and see about the experiences of others.  I want to use them for the times the oral meds aren't enough for the pain.

And speaking of it being a new thing for me..I am wondering how in the world can pain be so severe and so hot and cold and numb all at the same time?  It's like someone set my leg on fire and then put dry ice on it.  The only thing similar I have had was a rough case of shingles some years ago...but it was not this bad.

Hi;
   I use Lidoderm everyday on my lower back and behind my knees. It helps a lot during the day while I'm up and around. I also take Ultram ER along with several other meds and so far they all get along. Like Breeze said, you might be having an allergic reaction to one of your meds.

Hi -

Yes, I have used them before with good results.  I was also on Tramadol at the time, so they can be used together, but check with your physician first to make sure this was his plan for you.

You may be having an allergic reaction (which can be due to either the medication or adhesive).  Since we also have multiple chemical sensitivities, this happens with medications.  It sounds to me like you are having neuropathy from the illness...more that the former.

We also wonder about the pain it causes.  It can be different for everyone, waxing and waning along the way.  Some have minor cases and others are quite severe.

Hope you feel better real soon.
