I will. My folate registered as very high. The only def I've had was a slight D (around 24) but I have rx now.
Thanks again for info. Be well.
I can only see an indirect connection to a possible B12 deficiency, as there's
some synergistic action with folic acid and B12.
Something that may help is Tonic water, which serves as a muscle and nerve relaxant.
It contains a small quantity of quinine (the active ingredient), which is safe for most people, however,
you may want to test this by taking an ounce daily and build it up gradually to 5-6 oz, should it be safe for you. Not curative , but it might give you relief,
till you get this figured out.
Wishing you well,
Niko
P.S. FYI do a search for:
Alane M. Palmer, ND, CNC
regarding deficiencies, Fibro, Lyme, diet and hair analysis.
You will find it interesting.
Thanks Niko. It is unlikely I will be able to afford a hair analysis in the foreseeable future but I'll keep it in mind.
Hane any idea why they woud test for folate (I think that's what it was)?
Hey Buffy1970,
Get your Mg and Zinc levels checked (hair analysis-not blood test).
Take care.
Niko
Yeah. That's what I'm afraid of... paying for tests and not answers.
I also post on the MS forum and it has been compared to dystonia but mine isn't that drastic. I think the only spasms that are visible to others are the newest - I sometimes have twiches when I smile (somewhere in between the corner of my mouth twitches/tremors when starting/stopping a smile, if you can imagine what I mean). Other tremors/spasms are on right of chin and jaw and vibrating feeling in lips (and left side of tongue).
I'm wondering if it is just our friend FM again.
I've had similar symptoms - mine started with the left eye though. The opthalmologist told me that if it occurs mainly in one eye, then it's likely a response to fatigue or an allergy. He did state that if the spasms start occuring in other areas of the face, then it's likely to be caused by something other than simply fatigue or an allergy. A quick eye exam of the inside of the lower lids will show if the spasms are from an allergic reaction.
When mine spread, I was referred to a neurologist who did a bunch of tests including a metals test and an MRI - none of the tests showed a cause though.
I look forward to seeing what answers others have for you since it'll answer some of my questions as well!
