can some one help me, i'm so worried :(

Hi there,

I'm just getting used to using this thing-

I'm 21 years old and have had some symptoms that seem to have gradually gotten worse over the past few months-

- it started with aching legs, joints were more sore than anywhere else and the whole hind leg felt strained when walking or even bending down slightly. My other joints and muscles soon started aching, and now its just horrid- i can barely lift the hair dryer to dry my hair, even pickin things up strains my muscles. I have lots of tender points around my body- chest, hips, even on my knuckles. It really hurts just to lift my leg into the air as well- a few months ago I was fine!

Points to consider....

I was in hospital with gastroenteritis- the pain was slightly affecting my knee joints and legs before this but after being in hospital thats when it really started to progress.

I had a LOT of bloods done and flagged up was a borderline low thyroid level, however they repeated it 3 months later and it was back to normal.

I also feel very slightly internally shakey

I am also highly emotionally wired at the moment! very anxious due to a return to university after a bad personal experience with other people, so been in a bit of a state.

I looked up my symptoms on google (never a good idea?! as i now think i have MS :( ) and this disorder came up a lot and wondered if anyone had any experience that they could share with me to help me before i face the doctors!

:)

Hello,
I really feel for you. You're having really unpleasant symptoms, so no wonder you're in a state! All of us on this forum have been right where you are now, and it's a hard place to be. Googling your symptoms is rarely comforting, but when doctors seem unable to help, being a bit pro-active in researcing possible diagnoses can be empowering.

The most important thing to remember when you face the doctors is that
It's Not All In Your Head. Doctors like to have empirical evidence of disease before they can believe in it. It's terrible how so many of them discount a patient's subjective experience. I hope that your doctor is one of the enlightened ones and that you get the help and support you need.

Be well,

Suzie

Well said, Suzie!

Dont worry about it being MS just yet. I have every symptom you described and I have Fibromyalgia. I have been tested for a million things and am negative for all! That is frustrating. You dont want to have anything bad but at the same time you want to have evidence to support your pain.

There are a number of other less scary things than MS that could be wrong with you.

Take some hot baths, get out the heating pad, try Ibuprfen and Tylenol together until you can get more effective meds from a doctor, do some light stretching, and try not to over do because that will make the pain worse.

Good luck and feel better!

wow thanks, i'm just starting to panick and think my anxiety is making everything so much worse. I have had a complicated medical history from the past year. I had symptoms of a cold with vertigo for months and they reckoned it was chronic sinusitis and I Had a high white blood count so they gave me antibiotics- but i still have the facial/temple/eye pain just with less congestion now... (i also have bruxism/i grind my teeth while sleeping which apparently is contributing to tense facial muscles). After my gastroenteritis I have had slightly more urgency with my bowel movements, as well as ear adn thraot problems, such as random pain and what feels like an internal itch in my throat. When i pick up an object and hold it in front of me i can see it shaking, but the shaking isn't overwhelming just when i concentrate on what i'm doing. Its all so all over the place that I think the doctors don't no where to start with me!! I wish for them to say its my thyroid levels again but I doubt it and now i'm just scaring myself! Thanks to those that have reassured me that there are more things than MS to consider.

I'm so sorry you're going thru so much and not knowing what's really wrong with you.
To a 21 yr old, it must be frightening compounded by unpleasant personal experience at the univ.

I have hypothyroid...it is a constant maintenance..are you still on thyroid med?
I know hypothryroid can caus pain as well.  So try not to scare yourself stiff before you find anyanswer
There're so many illnesses symptoms overlap with each other...it will take a while before you rule out anything.  If  there's anything we can help you with, please ask.

Take care ,

I am not on thyroid med, I had routine bloods done and was told there was some discrepancy with the levels-border line rather than either under/over active (i forget which way), they repeated and found the same thing then asked me to come back 3 months later and they had returned to normal so they didnt do anything else. I'm wondering if it  is going to be my thyroid again....

I have started the process off by seeing the GP today who has arranged for me to have the following blood tests:

-B12/Folate, Fasting Glucose, Ferritin, GP Profile (whatever that means), Thyroid function, Vitamin D Metabolites, Plasma Viscosity and a FBC.

G'morning, Claire.

Hope you're feeling better today.

The blood test make sense to me...I pray that it might give doc the answer he needs to treat you.  Let me know the result .  Private message me anytime you need support or anything I can help with.  Okay.

Have a gentle day.

Have you had tests for Lupus, Lyme, Rheumatoid Arthritis, SED rate (inflamation level)? I dont think those were included in the bloodwork you just listed. I may be wrong but I dont think that's what any of these are called. When you are having the symptoms you are having, you really need to be tested for these others also.

I hope you're feeling better today and that you find some answers soon. I know how frustrating this all can be. Please try not to worry.
