Any treatment you have should not be painful. You have fibromyalgia. Do you get flare ups after a treatment? I would die if somebody did a treatment like that on me and it was painful during. So be careful and don't be afraid to say if it's too painful. You don't need intense deep massage. Myo fascial release can help, fibro is a connective tissue dis-ease so of course myo fascial is involved. But when someone does a treatment like that on you it must be over a period of time and with ease and tenderness. It can activate your immune system and start causing flare ups that you don't want. Trust me, I use to go for massages weekly. Then it was stimulating my system too much. That and acupuncture both of which I still do but it has to be done slowly and with the right therapist. So talk to your person, you aren't in a rush and don't feel you need to go more than 1-2 times per month. And it gets very expensive.
I was on 100mg of the patches. I didn't like the side affects, I was so sleepy all the time, no appetite. But they do take away the pain. If they work for you that's great. Take care and go slow.
I maybe wrong. It won't be the first time. But I don't think fibromyalgia is a connective tissue disorder. That sounds more like a systemic autoimmune disorder. Maybe someone smarter than I could straighten me out.
I was thinking that fibromyalgia had something to do with the muscles getting too tight and the pain receptors in your body being in over sensitivity mode. It seems everyone (including the drs.) has a different opinion on fibro.
con,
she did keep asking if the pressure was ok and i did say if it was too much she agreed she needed to go slow and knew that the next few days afterwards would give her a guide to if she got it right or not, i did this with my hydrotherapy but built up much much slower over the ten weeks it hurt alot that night and today was less but still not good. I find the patches are the only thing that keeps the pain to a copable level i dont sleep well at all and when going up it only ever makes me sleepy for a few days which is nice though as i sleep so bad sleeping is so nice when it happens.
kar,
there are many threory's to what fibromyalgia is somesay itsa disorder of the central nervous system caused by small changes in the brain to the pain receptors amoung other things i think this is right and others feel is an immune system disorder or a type of connective tissue disorder without inflammation showing on test so who knows.
