Are these meds causing me to get Gerd

I used to smoke but quit. I was then getting a lot of allergies and post nasal and was then coughing. Doctor prescribed Prednisone,Zithromax, Acyclovir [for cold sores] and Clindamycin cap 300 mg for sinus infection. Just lately I got acid reflux.... hard to swallow... even when I did it was bad... slight burning to severe burning feeling on the left hand side of my mid upper chest area. I went back again to see the doctor who told me the coughing, wheezing [which now both had stopped... nearly completely] from the sinus infection is proobably the causes of it. He now prescribed AdipHex.... am I having some GERD like symptoms or the Hiatia Hernia? As this tends to be more severe in the dinner time than morning. Please advise.. is the Prednisone,Zithromax, Acyclovir [for cold sores] and Clindamycin  ones causing me to have this Acid Reflux? Will Aciphex cure or need surgery..... the acid reflux has been getting worst

When I took clindamycin I had the most horrendous heartburn and burning sensation in my throat and chest to where swallowing was painfull. I thought the pills were getting stuck so I cut them before taking. It still didnt help right along with drinking liters of water didnt help. The burning made me convinced I had gerd, which  Id never had before. I got tired of the vomiting & had my doc switch  me to a different antibiotic. -never again!!!
My pathology instructor said clindamycin was for skin infections.

Actually what happened was.... I got this really really bad sinus infection about 9-10 months ago and then after that I got this darn GERD LIKE symptoms... I have no idea or clue why this happened..... and yes I am taking similar to you like Nexium 1x but after seeing what you took I might take it 2x and also Maalox and yes I was taking Augmentin, Levaquin, amoxcillan Mucinex and feel like there is something stuck always at my chest... yes I too feel quality of life has gone down. Due to this I started working out everyday now.... for 1+ hr a day intensively doing Cardio and some weights.

Last year I had a severe upper respiratory cold...Then the sinuses became involved but I was able to blow my head off and get the stuff out..  Then I stated having some breathlessness and headaches and achy cheek bones and constant mucous in my throat and I would cough my head off.  I felt the sinus drain and would carry kleenex with me to spit it out. I developed horrid gerd/heartburn/ bad breath and nothing in this world is helping with that and now the chronic sinus infection/problems.  In the morings I cough and drain till I literally vomit gobs and gobs of mucous up in the sink. Then I can breathe a bit better.

I am on Nexium x 2 a day, Maalox 24-7, Titralac and Pepcid.....Everything I eat...even water produces hearburn.  Early on I was on Augmentin, Levaquin, amoxcillan Mucinex, zrtex, and nada.  No help.  I cannot live like this. I am very tired....I take advil, aspirin and tylenol for the head pain.  I am on Plavix for my heart.

Hi...sorry I can not help u  as I am not familiar with the meds or their "testbook" side effects. Please keep in mind, everyone is different and u can have symptoms that r not listed.
See ur PCP and ask if the meds can be causing the symptoms or if something else is the root of ur GERD.

I would also imagine that it depends where ur hiatial hernia is located....mine causes me to hiccup....but I am not sure if there is nething else.

From what I know Aciphex is newer and I would go with something proven...like prilosec, but ask ur dr....he would know better especially since u r on so many diff meds.

Aciphex is a short term med.....not to be used over a yrs time.

And since u had a sinus infection...u may also have post nasal drip and that can cause gerd issues too.

Ask ur PCP to check for post nasal drip.

Godspeed
