Can I temporarily double my dosage of my GERD meds to get through a bad bout of gas?

So I have GERD and regularly take PPIs (one 20 mg pill per day, I rotate between Omeprazole, Esomeprazole, and Lansoprazole because they seem to lose effectiveness after a while if I just stay on the same one indefinitely) but for the past several days I've had excessive gas and heartburn. I've stopped eating all spicy foods as a result but it so far hasn't helped. Is it safe to double my PPI dosage for a week or two to see if that helps me alleviate this issue? Would I take one pill in the morning and one in the evening? Obviously if this doesn't work I would go see my doctor, but I usually can't get an appointment that's less than a week or two out and I need relief now.

If you are taking over the counter medicine then I think you should be fine to do that. But I would recommend asking a doctor. I would recommend you drink some almond milk and see how you feel for a few days. The main ingredient in Tums is Calcium Citrate. And often excess acid is because of a lack of calcium in diet. Drink a cup of almond milk for two days and see how you feel.
