Chest pain, Hiatal Hernia

I have recently been diagnosed with a 3cm hiatal hernia, i am on Omeprazole 20mg a day which helps with heartburn but i still have chronic belching. For about 6 months now i have been getting a tightening/crushing type pain in my chest at rest. It can last anywhere from 2-10 minutes. It often wakes me up in the middle of the night, i don't have any heartburn or burning sensations with this pain. I am wondering if a hiatal hernia could cause this or if it could be something more serious? I have had multiple ecg's, all normal and 24 hr holter monitor which did pick up a few ectopic beats but i was told these were benign. I have ectopic beats every single day, sometimes hundreds. I am waiting on echocradiogram. I am 32 years old and used to be very active but have gained alot of weight in a small amount of time and nowhere near as active now. I am scared to exercise as it can trigger the ectopic beats. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks, Dan

I have actually thought about this before, it came up when i was looking into my ectopic beats a few years ago, now that they are much worse and i'm getting pain as well i will be sure to bring it up at my next doctors appointment. And i will look into seeing a chiropractor, thanks for your reply

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

Have your Drs looked to see if your vagus nerve is compromised? If it is, this could be the reason and it could be the hiatal hernia....

I have read reports where a Chiropractor ( specially trained) can help manipulate the hernia to help relieve the pressure on this nerve....and you can learn to manipulate it yourself after having it done a few times....

Outside of reading about this  ,I have not had the need to try it....but may be worth looking into.
