Do you guys feel tightness in throat/chest with GERD?

Hi all! My name is Anna and I am 32 years old. I am 5'5 and weigh 160lbs. I lost 58 lbs during the last year and a half through eating right and walking, but believe it or not before when I was heavier I never suffered from gastro problems. Now that I am on a much healthier weight I suffer from constant GERD. I had endoscopy preformed a year ago and they found I had gastritis and esophagitis. They put me on Omeprazole 40mg one tablet in the morning and things were ok for like 6 months. I avoid all the trigger foods (I haven't had a pizza or hamburguer in over a year). I stopped taking the Omeprazole 2 months ago cause I know it can have some side effects if used for long periods of time. The GERD is back so I started taking Lanzoprazole two days ago. I know it takes time to work but the symptom that really bothers me is the throat/chest tightness and burning throat. I've had my heart checked out thinking it was coming from there but my heart is healthy with no structural problems. I have constant mucus too. I guess I just need some help on how to overcome this tight feeling cause sometimes I freak out thinking I can't breathe, but I am getting enough oxigen, its just a sensation. This is all causing me anxiety. I just want to be back to normal.

A lot of your symptoms sound like mine, except I can breathe. I have GERD with a hiatal hernia. The hernia no doubt caused it.

I doubt losing weight was a cause. Probably just a coincidence that you are experiencing stronger symptoms now that you are slimmer. If you hadn't lost so much weight, you might be feeling even worse.

Good for you for resisting hamburgers and pizza. Think of your new diet as a health movement.

If you haven't seen a gastroenterologist, see one now. You need a proper doctor to figure out your chest condition.

i don't know at what position u are in now while reading this post lol ....  find the things that triggering more  acid and don't take them and eat more fruits and vegetables , do regular exercise avoid some acid  foods at least for some days , GERD is not a serious problem until and unless you take it as serious
