Ears ringing, dizziness - No help.

Early part of last year I was having stomach problems and was switched from 20 mg daily of Prilosec to 40 mg and then to 60 mg of Dexilant and than to 60 mg of Nexium and then back to 20 mg of Prilosec. Then in September of last year I had an attack - broke out in a sweat, difficulty breathing, had high tropinin levels which could have meant a heart attack. Testing showed no on the heart attack. A few weeks later I had a similar attack, difficulty breathing with a thick gunk in my throat. My gastoenterologist did an endoscopy and esophageal dilation for breathing, even though he said it didn't look like it was needed. It got to the point in December that I had to set up to sleep because I could not breath laying down. Also, my ears started ringing. Cut forward to today, I have been tested for Lyme, disease, parasites, Celiac, H. Pylori, thryoid and adrenla gland problems, and they have all come back negative. Some doctor say they think I have acid reflux and some say that I don't. I have not been on acid reflux medicne since last year and don't know if I should start back on it. My vision is blurry, my neck pops, my head feels fuzzy, and, my ears feel pressure and are ringing, but also make a popping noise every now and then. I can also make my ears crackle and my right ear squeak by moving my soft palate. In addition, I have a contact state of nerovousness and tingling in my fingers and feet. The area above my ears feels tight, and my hole head feels inflamed. I have seen three ENTs and all have been of no help. I have tried Flonase for 5 months, one 10 days supply of antibiotics, and two courses of predisone. I'm really not sure what else to do. I am at my last straw because no doctor will further investigate what could be causing these issues. I had one ENT diagnose Meniere's disease, but I am not having attacks - it is a constant dizziness. With all the doctors I have seen, all have refused to do a throat swab for me. It is the weirdest thing. I would pay extra to have a doctor do a throat swab, but none will do it. This last doctor, after I told him each doctor refuses to do a throat swab, but just tries me on a different medication, did the exact same thing. This new medication is supposed to increase blood flow to my ears. Is there anyone out there who has had similar problems and actually got some help and relief from these dibiliatating issues. Not just people who have expeienced them, but actaully have some type of information that could help someone like me get better. I'm at the end of my rope. I've run out of doctors.

Did you find an answer for this? My symptoms sound very very similar -I was diagnosed with GERD but my only symptoms are breathing symptoms... and medications do not help at all. Symptoms come and go regardless of meds. I also had Raynaud's in my hands this past winter.

The ringing in my ears started this week - I am so hopeful you've found a diagnosis!

I wanted to add that I've always had sinus problems as well and have been on many allergy meds. I'm still using Flonase and have taken prednisone. I read on another forum that steroids can aggravate reflux?

I copied this because you are the first person who has mentioned the 'inner ear" symptoms. I have had dizziness, tinnitus, ear pressure and pain, tingling and tremors for 5 years. The tremors(especially today-hard to even type) and the other symptoms have have gotten worse the last two months..I was also on several antibiotics over the two months. I have gone to many ENTs over 4+ years who did not help. I went to a neurologist who had an MRI done and said that I have neck damage. The neck and GI symptoms got increasingly worse the last two months so now I'm wondering if there has been a connection with GI all this time. I did have one ENT tell me I have reflux. I think all the antibiotics have torn me up. I posted today if you want more info. I wish I had an answer as I am searching for one myself. I keep hoping that getting farther away from the antibiotics will help. Just started taking omeprazole a few days ago. Seems to help a little but I'm not sure about long term It isn't helping with the dizziness and tremors. Anyone else have ideas?

If u took several rounds of antibiotics u may want to ask ur Dr about taking a pro biotic...antibiotics kill ALL bacteria the good along with the bad....and we need the good, so taking a pro biotic will help replace the good ones lost.

The good bacteria helps break down food, if not there it can cause more stomach distress since the good bacteria is not there to break down the food....

Talk to ur Dr about this and which pro biotic they feel is right for u.

U r right blood labs are not a good indicator for magnesium as our blood holds less then 1% of our bodies magnesium....

There are ways ur Dr can determine if u need magnesium supplements.

They also tested my blood for magnesium and B12 levels, which showed to be okay, but I've read that blood serum is not a good test for magnesium.

They tested for the T3 and T4 as well. I had considered the medicatuons for the tinnitus but it wouldn't makes sense for the ear popping, pressure and pain and for my throat issues. I have almost come to belive that GERD aggravated by infection caused this. However, I'm back on the PPI, I'm drinking lots of water and can't seem to kick it. I've taked a couple of courses of antibiotics and an antiviral medication. I'm not sure what else to do. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

have u had testing for vitamin and mineral levels in ur blood?....

And the thyroid testing was it also done for an auto immune thyroid condition?...Many times they only look at TSH and u can get back a normal when in fact it is not...so ask for a full free T3, free T4 and TPO antibodies as well as TSH to see if u have nething going on.

Many meds including NSAIDS can cause tendinitis...so look at all meds and possible side effects....
