Esophagitis and hiatal hernia

Just found out my esophagus is inflamed and my hiatal hernia is worse.
The burning sensitivity in my mouth and on my lips is from the excess acid.
Just had a ph test done and a motility test as I am finding it harder to swallow, like my throat
muscles are really tight.Won't find out anything more for awhile but they're wondering if they
should try and fix the hernia and the little flapper thing that keeps the acid down in the stomach.
Does anyone think I should get this fixed and does it help?

I went from your symptoms and situation to experiencing a loss of enamel on my teeth and burned vocal cords within a couple month period of time, I'd stay on top of it.  The fact that the motility test showed difficulty in swallowing is troubling, as if you 'fail' that test, you won't be a candidate for the Nissen Fundoplication surgery using laparoscopic surgery, it involves more invasive surgical procedures.  I'd discuss this with your doctor/surgeon.
I had a Nissen Fundoplication surgery about one month ago, and it totally corrected the acid reflux, I'm very happy I had it done. I'm following diet directions carefully afterwards, that's the hard part, but I am most pleased.  Pick a surgeon who has done many surgeries.  Best wishes.

I forgot to mention, I had developed Barrett's Esophogas, a situation where the cells are changing shape, form and function.  That's another reason to aggressively deal with an active GERD situation that isn't responding to medications.

Hi...may I ask how long have u had this issue?

Have u modified ur diet and lifestyle to help calm it all down?

If not, u may want to try that first....and there is a non surgical procedure that may help...and I would try it first if u r a candidate for this method.....but , some chiropractors can manipulate
the hernia so it  is not affecting u as it is now.

Something  to consider, and the surgery for Hiatal hernias does not always provide the end result we seek...so do consider it  long and hard, and see if u have other options first.

Please keep us posted
