GERD and LPR for more than 2 months

I have GERD and LPR for almost 2 months or maybe more than that and I was really curious when will these stop. Im scared that there will be a time that I won't be able to speak anymore. I was also taking medications that lessen the symptoms in short amount of time then they will go back again. I've always thought that I would be experiencing the process all over again. I hope you can give me any advices or tips to help me completely prevent my illness. I'm only 17 and it's really difficult for me, esp. when it comes to controlling what I eat. Almost all of my favorite foods and drinks are prohibited.

LPR can take longer to gain some control over.
The throat cannot protect itself as much from acid and therefore can take longer to heal.
For healing to start, the acid has to stay away from the throat but that can't always be helped. Sometimes we can have acid in the throat and it won't be obvious.

For me, i generally get a stuck feeling in throat when eating but when i'm not eating, i get the feeling when acid is sitting in my throat.

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

LPR can exist for a time and u not be aware of it bcuz some do not have the traditional heart burn with it .....

Sometimes it can take several weeks to get the meds to work and u notice a benefit from them.

What u eat is a big thing as well as some things like smoking, or drinking like soda's...if u want to feel better u will have to modify ur diet and lifestyle in order to help the meds....as they can not help u alone if u do not watch what u eat....

The sooner u modify ur diet and lifestyle the faster u may see benefits, but it can take time....stress can also trigger symptoms to flare, so try to relax....for tips on diet and lifestyle see the Health Pages.   http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/list?cid=236
