Is this GERD?

I am desperate and I really need your help.

For the last few months I have a constant feeling of a lump in my throat and it never goes away. I think it gets worse after I eat. It's followed by bad breath that can be felt in the back of my throat and I have a lot of saliva and burp a lot sometimes after I eat. My stomach tends to feel very bloated after meals and I'm not sure if these are connected. Do you happen to know what this could be and could it be GERD?

While you are waiting to see your doctor, you might want to try 1 Tablespoon of Aloe Vera gel in a glass of water 20 minutes before each meal.

        Hope it helps.

No it is not normal to have, and as I suggested in my above post, u should see ur Dr and share these concerns.

Most time with out change to ur Diet and lifestyle and possibly the aid of meds this may not go away on it's own.

See ur Dr and post an update.

One more question... this lump in throat/bad breath sensation are constant, they're there every day all the time for the past six or so months, they don't go away at all. Is that normal?

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum,

Yes, reflux can cause the lump in the throat sensation as well as bad breath.....u should see ur Dr for testing to see just what is going on....in the meantime, exercise, eat healthy and avoid triggers..ie- spicy , greasy, acidic foods as well as carbonated bevs, and caffeine and alcohol...elevate the head of ur bed and do not lay down for 3 to 4 hrs after eating...there are more tips on foods that are safe to eat and those to avoid in the Health Pages- http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/list?cid=236
