Mother

My 19 year-old son had a Nissen Fundoplication 16 months ago.  He came home drunk last night and kept retching but was unable to vomit, as is common after this procedure.  He did throw-up some foamy-looking blood-just a small amount.  Does this indicate that any damage was done?  Gave him Promethazine and he is sleeping it off now.

Thanks for your response to my question.  I spoke with the surgeon who performed the procedure on my son and he said not to worry.  My son is doing alright now, just some soreness in his chest.  Hope he stays sore for a week!  LOL  And yes, raising kids is interesting, but this 19 year-old is driving me nuts....hope he has one just like himself:)

I'd certainly suggest having your son checked, anytime blood appears from the stomach, either from an upward or downward migration demands attention.  It's certainly possible from what I've read about the procedure before and after I had the Nissen F. operation, that retching could undue the surgery.  We hope that's not the case.  I hope that you keep us informed.
Isn't raising kids interesting?  Been there, done that, now watch my children get paid back.
