PPI Intolerance

I have severe GERD documented on several endoscopies and hiatal hernia on UGI. Over seven years I haven taken all the PPIs at one time or another, often in twice the recommended amount. I see a pattern in that I get moderate relief for 1-2 days, symptom plateau for I-2days and then worsening pain that continues until I stop the pill at which time the pain subsides for several days. Needless to say I’ve never completed an 8 wk course of anything. My doctors offer no help and I think are skeptical of this story. My GERD is very bad. Has anyone had a similar problem and if so is there a work around.
