Painkillers

So i was diagnosed with acid reflux almost 6 months ago ever since im scared to really take anything pain killer wise. I've always had really bad cramping whenever that time comes around but lately my cramps have been killing me. Now my doctor told me the only pain killer i could take was tylenol... what about pamprin? anybody have this problem? I'm really trying to suck it up but when at work i cant seem to shake it off.

Hi!  I sustained a compound fracture of my left wrist.  I was prescribed Toradol short term, then Ibuprofen 800MG as needed.  I did not supplement my Ibuprofen ingestion with an acid reducer (Pepcid, Nexium) and after 4 months developed one peptic, esophageal ulcer and several erosions (ulcer precursors) in my upper GI.  My GI doctor prescribed Nexium twice a day and is confident the GERD is NSAID induced and that my lesions will be healed in 12 weeks.

it's not extreme pain, just cramps it does not keep me from walking or any other activity. what i meant was that while i'm at work i just want to take a painkiller because it's hard to keep a happy face when my cramps are acting up. i've also read into endometreosis. thank you!

Hi and welcome to the GERD  forum,

The  info on pamprin is here - http://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-151686/pamprin-max-oral/details/list-contraindications

Since you have  such  bad pain,  ask  your OBGYN  why...could  it be endometreosis?...if  so, there is a surgery to remove the scar tissue and this helps with the pain.....better  then taking meds and possibly developing something else....

And it is possible  if  you have been taking meds  all  along they may be the reason for your GERD....

Talk yo  your  Dr  about  the pain and see what it might be.

Keep us posted.Good luck
