Question on GERD

About 5 years ago I had bad acid reflux, however was able to get it under control and not really suffer from it since. About 1 month ago I started to have a raw mouth: palate looks burned, inside of lips down by the jaw bone is super raw and swells when I chew food (not allergy as it’s any food that rubs it). Doesn’t swell to the point of dying but makes me super nervous. Anyway, does this sound like Acid reflux/GERD problem? I thought it was thrush but the medicine didn’t help at all. Doc gave me a mouthwash but didn’t help at all. Not sure what to do.

Bits better than boys.  lol  I still don't think this is gerd but you have heart burn too frequently.  I would get it checked out.  I had terrible gerd for a long time and found that losing weight and changing my diet and lifestyle (eating earlier instead of later and that type of thing) really helped.  Do you take medicine for it when you say you are controlling it?

So, you've got something you KNOW about going on in your mouth.  And you took a mouthwash that didn't relieve the thrush but what if it irritated your mouth.  That really could be the culprit for what you are experiencing.  Your best bet is to run this by a doctor and let them examine it.

No don’t take medicine. It was largely cause by stress with a job change I think. However, this burning mouth is making me go crazy. Doctor gave me nystatin for thrush and a “magic mouthwash” for general healing. Neither really seem to have improved it after 4 days. Worried if I go back to the doc they will start a crap ton of tests that will cost a ton of money and largely be inconclusive anyway.

To be totally honest, no.  If you had gerd to the point of mouth changes like that, you'd likely be miserable.  talk to your doctor again about the thrush if previous treatment didn't work OR if the treatment irritated your mouth.

One other thing I wanted to mention. I have heartburn a couple times a week. Very controllable during the day. At night it doesn’t wake me up but if one of my kids wakes me up I notice a pretty decent burn. Could little boys if acid be pooling in my mouth overnight. Occasionally there will be bits (very small) of chewed food in my mouth in the morning.
Haha little bits* NOT little boys
