Reflux present immediately after fundoplication

Hello - please help! Yesterday I had a partial anterior fundoplication to correct reflux. Since then I have had constant reflux and I am very worried that this should not be happening. Can anbody advise if this is normal and will resolve, or if this is a sign the fundoplication is too loose and has not worked? I really need some help on this as I am not seeing my surgeon for a follow-up appointment for another month. Thank you very much.

Hi Rainbelle,

Thanks very much for your reply. By "the tubes", do you mean was my surgery done laporoscopically? If so, yes, it was. I'm finding it hard to separate out the pain from the surgery and the pain in my shoulders (also from the surgery) from that old feeling of reflux. I did ask the surgeon about it and he said it wasn't very long since they'd taken out the nasal-gastric tube, and I should wait a bit...but I feel like I know what reflux feels like!

Anybody else experience this?

Many thanks.

I would say that is not normal, and that you should call the doctor's office for help.  I had a nissan fundaplicaton some years ago and the problems stopped immediately.  They did a pretty radical surgery, however, with a long recovery but it worked for many years..  Was yours done with the tubes instead?
