Stomach Growling

I had a bad onset of gastric symptoms in mid dec that is only now getting better. I've hada barium swallow including small bowel and all was normal except a small hiatal hernia. I've been on Prilosec 2 weeks and have modified my diet for acid reflux since that seems to be the consensus. I have not had any serious symptoms for several days now. But they still never foundany root cause other than acid reflux.

So my question is this: The only real symptom I still have is a lot of stomach growling and churning. it doesn't heard, it's just loud and I didn't have it before, except rarely. So does this indicate anything I should be concerned about? Is it to be expected after a bad acid reflux flareup? Should I expect it to go away after a period of healing (or whatever)?

Thanks in advance.

To say it works better later in the day may be misguiding bcuz if that is the case for me, it may not be the case for u.

Talking with ur dr to find the best time to take it for u is the best way to go.

If u r still having issues for ur next appointment, I would want to rule out Gall Bladder issues and H.Pylori....and if those r all ok I would ask about trying a diff med.

Do you think prilosec maintains a steady level in the blood for 24hrs, or do you think it is working better for the first 12 after taking it? I suspect the following and am experimenting with taking it later in the morning than I have been. I see my Dr Feb 4. I think I would have to push him to do any further diagnostics and I'm not sure what I would be pushing him for. Of course, I'm hoping I am better and can just say leave it as it is.

I have one as well and it is small too....but stress and other meds can affect ur reflux, but the main cause is the hernia.....

It can take some time to see improvement with the meds...prilosec worked for me for many yrs, in fact a I was able to get off the meds for quite a few yrs.....but I had surgery and the meds/drugs used for surgery caused a flare and this time the prilosec did not work and I am  on a RX strenght of pepcid which is working great.I am slowly cutting back on the meds and with diet again I know I will be med free.

If after a month u feel no improvement ask ur dr to re evaluate the meds .......

Actually the hiatal hernia was said to be very small and probably not the cause of anything. But I am following everything you said and have greatly modified the diet. Can I still expect further improvement from the prilosec? I've been taking it for 17 days now.

U did find ur root cause u have a hiatal hernia which can cause gerd.....give the meds some time to be effective....and keep on the diet and lifestyle modifications.

If u r over weight or have weight flucuations it can affect ur gerd...so do be very aware od ur diet and exercise.

The other thing u can try is more meals during the day...try 6 small meals and see if that helps with the growling/churning sensations.

Good luck
