Trapped Wind After Eating

Hi everyone, I posted a while back seeking advice for my GERD like symptoms. Im still unable to see a doctor as i have five more months to go until I may apply for my PR card here in Canada.

Luckily, I havent had the bad burning/gnawwing stomach ache again, but Im having some trouble with trapped wind. Ive found that after a day of indulging in some junk food, if I eat something high in carbs/salt/butter Ill immeddately swell up with gas (twice garlic bread set it off, and once it was popcorn.) It starts high in my stomach and then I feel it travel through my digestive system. Its quite uncomfortable, and the first time it happened it scared me so badly the pains shot into my chest like I was having a heart attack. If I lay down and relax, it will pass in a few hours and my organs will feel fine afterwards, allowing me to eat foods normally with no lasting effects.

Anyone have experiance with this? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I cant see a doctor yet so I just have to hang on until then.

Stress is a huge factor in how we feel....so enjoy the beautiful weather...go for walks...find a new hobby anything to give you a new focus....plant a garden....big or small what ever you can handle and enjoy.

Time flies fast enuff and b4 you know it you will be at the Drs in Oct.

Thank you Selma, your insight is always very helpful.

I'm doing all I can to avoid becoming too stressed or anxious about my condition. I have a history of medical anxiety and sometimes I wonder if many of my symptoms are being made worse by me worrying over them.

Hopefully I can hold out until October and then get some answers.

I would venture to say most likely the butter or high fat.....I know a few people that have issues with garlic as well....

Let me know what your Dr has to say about all this....and I pray you feel better soon.

Thank you!

My foot is doing alright, the ball of the ankle is slightly larger on it than on my unhurt foot, another thing I'll have to ask the Dr. about.

Since the trapped wind attacks started I have kept track of what sets them off. Twice it was garlic bread, once popcorn, and always after a day/evening of overindulging. From now on I'll stay away from high butter high salt items.

It seems to be very specific. I find it odd I can have a slice of pizza and half a fried veal sandwich with mozzarella and marinara sauce and feel fine, but if I keep eating like this it'll go off at the trigger of something salty and buttery.

  Hi and welcome back!!

How is your foot doing?

I would suggest you keep a journal of what you eat and do to look back on to see if there is a pattern...some of us have more issues with reflux with changes in season due to allergies and PND.....we are all different and keeping a journal may help you narrow down your triggers.

Avoid foods that typically will trigger symptoms to flare and stress can also be a factor so try different ways to relax and wind down at the end of a day.

Seems you already know the junk food can trigger symptoms for you....and popcorn typically has butter on it which tends to be greasy....until you get this under control you need to avoid foods like that.

Keep us posted.
