Upper GI Endoscopy

I have an upper gi endoscopy scheduled in a couple of weeks.  What should I expect with this.  I will be sedated but still anxious about it.  Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Good.  I have to have the endoscopy and a flex sig. done one right after the other.  I dont want any knowledge of what they are doing :o)

Nope. In fact, when I had mine I asked the doctor for some to take home. It was one of the the best naps I'd ever had.

He, of course, said no.

With the sedation will I be aware of what is going on?

The only thing I'll tell you is to relax. I remember when I had my first EGD. I was so scared I kept listening to an audiobook version of Chapter 7 of "The Secret" to relax. (It's the chapter about health.) My fear was about what they would find. (They found pretty much nothing except some very minor esophageal irritation and gastritis.)

The procedure itself is cake, super easy (from your end). The only thing is that you'll probably be burping a lot afterwards because of the gas they use.

Good luck.
