Every case can be different in regards to Gallbladder issues and you should direct this question to your surgeon/physician.
Hi there,
I had severe pains and eventually had my Gallbladder removed in 2006. Almost died from it at age 31, so it is not just a small op and has a lot of complications also that you need to consider before having the op. I never had a HIDA scan, but my gallbladder was full of stones and I had Cholangitis and bile-duct were blocked and it turned out very very nasty.
The question you should be asking your Doc/Surgeon: do I have existing Gallstones?
Your symtpoms to warrant the removal of Gallbladder: severe pain for long periods and then, if you do have existing Gallstones in your Gallbladder, it should be removed before you develop Cholangitis.
Hope this helps and let me know if I can help with any info or just need someone to talk to :)
I had a HIDA Scan last Wed and met with the surgen on Fri - and was told that my Gallbladder was not functioning. What are the problems if I do not have it taken out?
I would suggest you give us more information.
