Will it ever alleviate?

So I'm 17 and I'm a singer. I was having a lot of strange interference with my voice (persistent post nasal drip, vocal reactions to coffee, and subtle things), so I recently got checked out and diagnosed with reflux. They gave me this whole list of things to avoid, which you know (tomatoes, acidy fruits, coffee, alcohol, whole milk, etc.) and perscribed medication. I forget.... Maybe prilosec? But there's so much I haven't tried! If I take the medication, can I eat my favorite foods again? Or will it eventually go away if I stay on the drugs? Do I have to eat bread, fish and leavesfor dinner all my life from now on?
