I had the same thing happen to me after my gallbladder surgery, in fact, the day i came home from the hospital, i was eating a tuna sandwich and right after, i had an attack, i was so mad, and after that, for a few years, i continued to have attacks every so often, so i really had to be careful about eating, very bland foods.  I agree with ladymac that you should have blood work done to check out your pancreas.  Let us know how you make out.

Hi there,
One thing that happened to me after my gallbladder was removed was I did have a stone form in my common bile duct. it hurt just like the gallbladder attacks but worse. They forgot to tell me that even without a gallbladder you can still form stones, go figure. After dealing with that issue, which is a very serious problem, I still had problems, found out I have chronic pancreatitis. Have your Dr. check your amalyse and lipase levels, those are enzymes, the lipase is specific to the pancreas. There could be other issues but this one can be ruled out by blood tests, you might have to take it more than once because the levels fluctuate quickly. It's important to get the tests when your having an attack so ask your Dr. about being able to get an order for the tests and keep them for the time when you are hurting, right after go in and get your blood work done. Good luck.

Hi,
It could be due to a stone in the bile duct.
An ultrasound scan of the abdomen will be helpful in the diagnosis.
