Help......kind of needed lol

hello! im having my gallbladder removed in about 12 hours. im freaking out. i know what to expect lol iv watched all the you tube videos i could lol. but my question is what kind of pain should i expect to be in after? either lathroscopic or full open. i am preparing myself for the worst, iv lived with this pain for 4 years now and just finally had enough, and found out monday 12-9-13 that i had gallstones and he wanted to get me in then but they hospital was full so tomorrow wednesday 12-11-13 was the only day they had open. so im just wondering how bad will i hurt when i wake up? and also am i the only one that asked if i could take my gallbladder and gallstones home with me?

Hi, by now you must have completed your surgery and hopefully you are feeling good. The pain may be present for 48 hrs post surgery and then will gradually reduce. Post surgery there could be diarrhea and fatty food intolerance as the bile is secreted directly into the intestines. This could settle with time. To avoid this try to take plenty of high fiber diet and cut down on fatty food. Take care.

Nope I have had no diarrhea. My dr fixed that problem. I had a 1.1 cm round gall stone. And 0.2cm thickening of the wall. That explains why for the 4 years I was living with it I hurt so bad after eating anything really

i feel AWESOME lol i still cant eat fatty foods and thats fine with me lol. i have 4 little tiny scars from it totaly fine and they arent as bad as i thought! i first had an attach and i thought i was dying! it hurt so bad it made labor look like a muscle spasm. i accualy had EVERY SINGLE dr i saw going it cant be your gall bladder it has to be somehting else. my pain was so high in my side it wasnt funny. i thought it was a dead rib or something. when i would eat fatty food beofre surgery i would in like 5 mins b running to the bathroom and b stuck there for like the next 45 mins it seamed like! when we would go out ( even when i was pregnant!) i would only get ice cream, or frozen drinks because it was a "safe" food. my surgen said i may have ibs and thats normal he said to try activea yogurt, and meralax! so give them a try :) im going to try them myself lol. recovering from surgery i had gotten a nice pain killer, it will make u sleepy so if u have kids make sure to have them stay with someone else because for the first at least 3 days your going to b taking the pain meds! i used them for 3 days n stoped cold turkey. my dr had to take some of my liver with my gallbladder because my body way "fixing" the problem it was accualy attacking my gallbladder and a little of my liver. lol every so often my liver "hurts" like my gall bladder is there lol but i no its not. i have taken aleve if the insicions seam to hurt a little. we did get back on laundry and dishes lol because after i couldnt do much. i had abnormal symptoms it took 4 doctors to finaly get the answer. and i did it for 4 years by tons of aleve, HOT showers, and just "dealing" with it. if u think its your gallbladder call your doctor and have them schedual an ultrasound of it! its going to hurt ! u will feel like yr ribs r brused but its worth it :) u will have to not eat or drink anything for a few hours for that lol but in the end its worth it to get answers. i would also recomend a heating pad for after recovery i feel like my "empty spot" gets cold alot lol idk y but the muscles also get tight easier. i am a month after surgery and i feel better than i did before i had it out :) i also woke up feeling a difference :)

Do not worry! Aside from the day of the surgery, when I felt sore and groggy, it was FINE. I left the hospital an hour after (lapi) surgery, I ate Chinese food for dinner that night and flew to the Dominican Republic four days later and swam in the ocean. I barely took any if the pain meds and the incisions were TINY, no stitches. The one in my belly button rubbed a bit on clothes, just irritating.  Reading about all the stuff that happened to others made me nervous too, but when it didn't happen I felt grateful. I've had no diarrhea, no pain, I can eat anything.  I can't imagine I'm the sole person who had an easy time, I think people are just more inclined to write negative stories than positive ones.
