Low functioning gallbladder and dizziness

I am a 32 year old female, 5'7'', 133lbs, on no medications, and am in good health. Ever since my son was born in 1996, I have had stomach issues off and on (occasional stomach upset, nausea, epigastric pain, bloating, etc.). I have had numerous endoscopes, colonoscopies, and gb ultrasounds but all have been negative. The past year I have experienced some hairloss, a foggy headed feeling, short term memory loss and have had more bad days with
my stomach than good. I even had an episode of feeling like I was going to faint while I was driving on the expressway out of no where. I felt dizzy, shaky, had chest tightness, a pressure in my head and behind my eyes, and felt like I might pass out, which lasted for about three hours. Due to that I went to my primary and had my dr and an endocrinologist do bloodwork to which have all come back normal. He referred me to a gastro dr. who decided to do a HIDA scan (which I had never been offered before) and it showed a 10% ejection. He said that it is close to non functioning and that it could be the cause of all my stomach issues. He recommended I get it removed and I have surgery scheduled for Sept. 29. Last week I had another almost fainting episode while driving and have not been able to get rid of this dizzy, nauseous feeling. My primary doesn't think there is an correlation between my gallbladder and this dizziness so he is sending me to a cardiologist, pulmonologist and neurologist. However, he did an EKG and echocardiogram which all came back normal. I'm going to have a heart holter monitor, MRI and pulmonary function test done this week to make sure there is nothing wrong there. My question is, could a diseased gallbladder make someone so very dizzy for a prolonged period of time? Has anyone had the same sort of experience?

I'm not a doctor, but glad to share with you that my teenage daughter had dizziness with her gallbladder issues .. it took years to get a GB diagnosis.  She had her GB removed 10 yrs ago and is doing well.  Good to have other areas checked out .. they did same with her!

I have the same symptoms you do and my gallbladder ejection fraction is 3%. The dizziness started intermittently but now it's constant. I do believe it's caused by the gallbladder but that the stress of feeling like this intensifies it. I also have constant nausea but never vomit, pain in the right epigastric area and in my neck and back, weakness in my left arm and left leg. I have been to the ER 3 times in the last 2 weeks. I'Ve had an EKG, head CT and blood work which all showed nothing. I have my surgery in 6 days and never thought I'd be this excited for surgery. I tried driving today and it didn't work out so well. I got dizzy and nausea again. Had to turn around and come home and I won't be driving again until after my surgery. It is so frustrating! I hope it gets better for you! I am a nurse and I know these are not typical symptoms but I do know they are related to my gallbladder and my doc agrees. Don't let anyone dismiss your symptoms and make you think it's all in your head!

Did you ever get your surgery? If so, how are your symptom now?
Hello Ebowwow....

I have exactly the same symptoms as you noted on this post and my HIDA scan revealed an ejection fraction of only 17%. I have dizziness nausea pain in my right upper quadrant between my shoulder blades and up the right side of my neck. I can't eat anything even low fat food without setting off the pain. I'm due to have my gallbladder removed this coming Friday and wondered whether or not you ever had gallbladder surgery and did it resolve your problem?

I would really appreciate hearing back from you hope you are feeling much better! I'm scared to death to have the surgery but can't go on living like this and losing all this weight I'm 5 foot 9 and 115 lb now...

It is your health anxiety causing the dizziness. Not your gallbladder. I too have the same issues, but I'm a 26 year old body builder with a perfect functioning heart. I suffer from gerd and get horrible spells of anxiety which cause fatigue, extreme dizziness, and feelings on impending death fears. It's a horrible way to live, especially when antacids and anxiety meds don't work. Best of luck with your problems. I hope you and I can both overcome this madness

I have the same exact symptoms googled and came across your question. I was wondering if my gallstones are causing my vertigo. My thyroid tsh test was always normal but I had the antibodies show up first.,

Sounds like autoimmune issues. Try checking for thyroid antibodies.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

It's unlikely that an inadequately functioning gall bladder can cause symptoms of dizziness. The  causes for dizziness are inner ear infections; brain disorders, heart problems, fever, stress, low blood pressure and anxiety. It could also be due to inner ear problems. Sometimes, inadequate sleep and hypoglycemia can also cause tiredness, fatigue and dizziness.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
