15 years old and in pain.

10/28/10
Hello, I'm a fifteen year old girl.  This month of October 2010, I've been experiencing some strange problems in my lower abdomen/pelvic region.  I'm scared because it's been going on for almost a month now.  It all started on October 2nd.  My pelvis felt weird, pressurized, or uncomfortable.  I've never experienced bloating before, and my mom just said it sounded like I was having some bloating.  So I thought it would go away, but it still remained 24 hours of the day for TWO and a half WEEKS.  I have currently stopped feeling the pressure/bloatedness.  And during the discomfort, I was merely constipated.  So now that that has stopped, I am feeling pains in my lower left pelvis.  One of the days, my lower left pelvis would hurt; it felt kind of like a subtle stab, yet it was fairly tolerable.  It would only hurt when I'd walk or extend my left leg.  It went the next day.  Then a few days later, I felt an aching pain in my lower left pelvic region (the same place) and it would come & go throughout the day.  It felt like a tight squeeze, then release of pain.  It lasted for 2 days.  So this was after my bloating went.  Now, I've been feeling like I have to urinate more frequently that I used to.  I used to be able to sleep the whole night without urinating until the morning, but now I have to go to the restroom way earlier. I'll just be sitting there in class and I'll have the urge to go pee, but I'd have went pee like 20 minutes earlier.  So that's kinda freaking me out.  AND NOW, ontop of all of that,  Yesterday (the 27th), I was running the mile in PE (which isn't abnormal) and right beside my bellybutton and in that region on the left side, everytime I would land on my left foot, it felt like there was something hollow in there, or pressurized just in that region.  The best way I could describe it as is like a running cramp  but lower in the left abdomen region.  And after school on the ride home, the car kinda was bumpy & in that SAME AREA, it started hurting.  It felt like a tube was in my left lower abdomen and it just hurt really bad.  I don't know that it is and I'm really scared.  As ridiculous as it sounds, I am worried that I have Ovarian Cancer.  Please help out asap.  My dad is unemployed with no work and we can't afford to go to the doctor's just yet.  Please help.  Thanks

A probiotic is a good idea.  I wouldn't recommend taking medications for your constipation because you said your constipation is only mild and because it is best to try natural diet changes first before you start trying a medication.

I would suggest you get Align, which is an over-the-counter probiotic.  You are definitely constipated, and it is possible this occurred from being on an antibiotic (which can change your digestive tract flora) or maybe some other medication that is constipating.  Or maybe your hormones are just affecting your digestion.

To get quick relief you could use a glycerin suppository.  Or you could take magnesium citrate tablets.  We are all pretty low on magnesium these days with our diets.

Running will be much more comfortable when you get rid of the constipation.  It is probably what's annoying your bladder also.  If not, you could also take cranberry pills to increase the acidity in your bladder and discourage UTIs.  But  I really think your colon is just too full and putting pressure on everything.

Good, that sounds like a good idea to eat more greens and fruits.  You can also try high fiber cereals to help.

Hmm.  Yes, only mildly.  Okay I will try to eat as much greens and fruits as I can, but I already drink a ton of water and I excersise for more than 2 hours a day.  I'm on the cross country team.

It could be irritable bowel syndrome. You said you were only mildly constipated right?  For that you could try increasing your fiber intake, increasing your intake of fruit and vegetable, increase your water intake, and get more exercise.

Oh, okay.  Well I've never done anything with the opposite gender so it's very unlikely.
Thanks for your help!! (:
Do you think it could be like irratable bowle syndrome?

I say that because if you think you have ovarian cancer it is more likely something like pelvic inflammatory disease which usually is sexually transmitted.

No, why do you ask?
When I say Pelvis, I don't mean my LOW pelvis like where my vagina is.
I mean my lower abdomen in my digestive tract.  You think I'm pregnant?

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  It is very unlikely that you have ovarian cancer.  You need to see a doctor about this.  There is no other way to know what is going on.  Can you go to a walk-in clinic?  Your health is very important and you need to see a doctor about this before anything gets worse.  Are you sexually active or have you ever been?
