Anybody take antibiotics for diverticulosis?

Just wondering if antibiotics have been given for bad diverticuloliyis,ibs and results from victims!

Thank you for your reply..I have diverticulitis per colonoscopy and pet scan.. I have read about overgrowth and did take cipro 500 mg daily for 5 days and came out of being so weak I could hardly walk episode!..the dr said just try and it helped..thank you! I know taking antibiotics when no fever or culture sounds questionable but it did help a few months ago.....I am in pain a lot but when I am really weak..I wonder if something else is going on..

When diverticulosis turns to diverticulitis, antibiotics are often given.  Unfortunately, it is often Cipro.  I don't react well to Cipro, but generic Ceftin is awesome and I feel better.  I don't think I have divericulitis, but possibly bacterial overgrowth due to slow digestion.
