Blood and mucus in stool

I am a 27 yr old female with no health insurance. For yrs, I have had pain in my lower abdomen. I thought this was a gynecological problem, so this is the area I focused on and had looked at. A large cyst was found and removed on my left ovary 5 yrs ago to relieve the pain. This did not work. Now, I have excruciating pain in the same area 3-4 days of the week, most times in the morning. I take methadone daily, but also fiber to try to help with digestion. My stool has been extremely large and hard for yrs now. The opiates have helped with this, I know, but lately, there has been dark red, sometimes black parts to my stool. And more often now, mucus covers the stool, also. And a lot of it. I am becoming more and more scared every time I go now, which is only a few times a week, and the pain has been unbearable for too long now. So plz help! Advice, anything, would be much appreciated.

I know that with endometriosis you can have blood in your stool because of endo being on your bowel. I also know this can be GI related. You need to have a colonoscopy to confirm. Also.. realize that this can be coming from hemroids which I am sure you have if your bowel movements are difficult to pass.

Also, be sure that you are getting the correct endo surgery. Excision needs to be used and not cauterization. If one uses Excision, it will entirely remove the disease ... nothing else will have that same effect. Look up an Endometriosis specialist in your area.

Have you looked into Pelvic Floor Dysfunction? This can cause chronic constipation and is seen in 50% of individuals who have it. Biofeedback is available.

Any rectal bleeding is not normal and should be investigated.  For possible causes google rectal bleeding and look at one of the many websites - the Medicinenet site is particularly informative.  If the cause is not obvious from a physical examination, you may wish to request a colonoscopy and endoscopy which can both be carried out at the same time.
