Constant Nausea with lightheadedness

Hello, I am a 25 year old male I am 6'-1" and weigh around 215-220 pds. The past couple of months I have been suffering  from chronic nausea, lightheadedness and headaches. It seems to happen off and on after eating and sometimes when I haven't eaten but it is more prominent like 3 hours after eating anything. I went to one dr. and they did some blood work and everything was ok. I was given nexium for some heartburn i was having and it helped with my heartburn but i haven't taken it these past 2 months. Then I went to another doctor because one night i had a night of diarrhea and constant retching but not vomit would come out along with a fever. He told that it was most likely the meal i ate that night which agreed. He also did some blood work and stool examination and my stool ddid show signs of inflammation but nothing to serious. eventually the symptoms went away after 2 days.Just recently i have been having the symptoms i first described (nausea, lighthead, headache,a lot of movement in my stomach area but no real pain) but it seems to happen almost everyday now. One time it was so bad i began retching but nothing came out and eventually i started feeling better. I have another appt. with another dr. coming up next Monday but i am worried that this might be something serious.

Here is some info about me....
-4 years ago i suffered from gastritis but eventually i got better and have been healthy until now / endoscopy and  colonoscopy was performed.
-I am lactose intolerant but i rarely eat dairy products and when I do I ususally do so along with a "lactaid" pill.
-I used to eat a lot of junk for and soda but for the past 5-6 months ago I eliminated sodas and junk food. I usually    eat subway and quiznos sandwiches and pollo tropical. I drink mostly water all day. Some weekends i make exceptions :)
-I don't eat breakfast and I don't eat until 2pm...i usually go long hours without eating.
-work is stressful but i don't believe that my problem is stress. I dont take work home with me if you get what i mean.
-I am not on any medication currently
-I do not smoke, drink, or do drugs
any help would be appreciated :)

When symptoms seem to be food-related, it's a great idea to see a gastroenterologist.  I'm on a bland diet and I add items one at a time to see if I can tolerated them.  Generally speaking, anything that is fried or fatty is off the list entirely.  I eat lots of fruits and veggies.  I don't drink anyway but that would be off the list.  Keep your log of what you eat and what symptoms you have as a result.

Good luck and Godspeed,

Sam

this is strange....yesterday i ate 3 solid meals and felt fine..today after i ate a small breakfast ( croquette sandwich) 2-3 hours later began to feel some pressure or discomfort right below my chest area, but then it turns to hunger but then it turns into a uncomfortable "pulling" sensation and i begin to feel slight nausea and lightheaded, but then it turns to huger. So i ate some home food and while i am eating i feel my stomach doing flip flops.....does this sound like an ulcer?gastritis?

thanks agaiin

luckily i have no diarrhea but i get really gassy and when i pass wind they tend to be rather hot and m y stomach does alot of flip flops

Keeping a journal is key.  Have you noticed any difference between sweets and protien?  When you feel sick what do you crave?  If anything.  I am assuming they tested you for diabeties, anemia, and arithmia.  How old are you?  For me it depends more one what I have consumed in the last 24 hours and how much protien,  Beware because you might blackout, if you aren't already.  Let me know what you find out.

I'm so sorry to hear that you ar suffering.  Given the fact that your endoscopy was four years ago, you may want to request a new round of imaging tests.  With your symptoms, it could be SO many things.  If it was a meal or a series of minor causes, you wouldn't be posting here, still looking for answers.  Keep an eye out for fever.  If it comes back along with either/or vomiting or pain, that's a great indication that you might want to go to the hospital.

Here are a couple of things that I've found helpful.

Research!  Read old posts in this forum.  There is a fantastic research resource that I've found very helpful called "The First Principles of Gastroenterology": http://gastroresource.com/GITextbook/en/Default.htm.   For nausea, visit: http://www.medicinenet.com/nausea_and_vomiting/article.htm or http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/nausea/DG00019.  This article has a chart with possible causes of abdominal pain:  http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic2740.htm.

Log!  Keep a journal.  It helps identify patterns in your symptoms, foods, medications, temperature and pain level.  You're welcome to read mine but I write a lot (can you tell?).  :)  http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/12546?personal_page_id=8912

Reach Out!  You are not alone!  Try to stay positive.

When you do find answers, please post to let everyone know what you found and how you got rid of your symptoms.  It gives people on this site hope to hear success stories.

All the best,

Sam
