Constant Stomach Pain (2 months)

About 2 months ago, I started having stomach pains. The pain would stay for a whole day, lessen the next couple and then come back. It went on like this for a couple weeks. I took Prilosec and Prevacid, both of which seemed to work for about 3-4 days and then symptoms came back. My gastro had me take Probitoics which didn't seem to work. The pain still remained and even became sharper at times. The pain is in m upper abdomen, just below my ribs. I got a colonoscopy and endoscopy. All they found was mild gastritis in my duodendum. All this time, I was not throwing up or having diarrhea, but my bowel movements were much more looser and less solid. I never threw up, though. Recently (the last week), the symptoms lessened a lot and my bowel movements became normal. I saw the doctor 3 days ago and he says he has seen this before...i got some kind of bug, virus, bacteria, etc which messed up the amount of good/bad bacteria in my stomach and it just takes a while to correct itself. He figured with the recent improvement, it was going away. But today, the pain came back and I am not sure what to do. Thoughts?

I had a blood test and biospies during my endoscopy and both did not show any H. Pylori. I forgot to mention that my doctor says its non-ulcer dyspepsia.

It sounds like Helicobacter Pylori, or H-Pylori. Ask your doctor! Today, the standard triple therapy is amoxicillin, clarithromycin and a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole. At times, probiotics have been used.

A patient with gastritis, or peptic/duodenal ulcers may also have the presence of H-pylori.

You can read about it here (copy and paste the URL into your web browser.):

Good luck! And let me know how you are doing!
