Constipation after diarrhea?

I had one soft stool earlier yesterday, and diarrhea late at night.  I've been feeling bloated and full all day today and haven't been able to have a bowel movement. Was able to pass a good deal of gas quite easily once I got home, over a few hours, and felt better for a while, but the bloating returned as soon as I ate dinner.

I'm fearing that I have an intestinal problem. I'lI usually go at least a small amount every day.

How soon should I expect to have a bowel movement after a night of diarrhea?
