Coping

Anybody have any tips for coping with gallbladder problems while waiting on surgery?  I haven't slept in three nights, can't eat, can't go to classes, nothing.  The pain and nausea are so intense, and I don't see the surgeon for 60 hours still, and even then, we still have to schedule the surgery, which could be a week or a month away.  So anyone have any tips?  Something that worked for you?

I can relate trust me . I ended up in the hospital for four days last month with this .at the time they could not figure out the problem. I have been sick most of the month .I had my HIDA scan a week ago ,i got lucky my doctor stayed right on it ,he got me into the surgeon monday they do surgery tomorrow AM . plz make sure they watch your blood work
the last thing you need it an infection all over . My hida scan was 12% so they moved pretty fast.

I can sympathize as I had to wait for my surgery.  I found that eating very little for dinner and eating early-and I mean 5:00-helped me tremendously in being able to get some sleep.  I had problems lying on my right side as it was putting pressure on my gb so I slept with a pillow prop on my back or on my left side.  I also found that taking my gerd pill helped during that time and eating small amounts throughout the day. I would also recommend that you find the best surgeon you can even if it means going out of town and you can up your surgery date.  I went 4 hours away for my surgery to a large city and was able to get my surgery at least two-four weeks earlier than doing it locally.  A quality surgeon of course is more important than the time frame so choose carefully.
