Dumping Syndrome

I was wondering if you are diagnosised with dumping syndrome, how would a Subtotal Gastrectomy and reconstuction helping the dumping syndrome? Everything I read says that can make dumping worse? I am scheduled to have that surgery in July and now I am not sure that I want it cause if things are worse then now, man I could not have a life cause I do not now.
I need advice and help with this please!!!
Thanks

Thank you I will check it all out. That is what i am being told it can not go back, that is why i am so scared about it. The surgeon seems to be positive about doing this but it is me who will pay not them. Thank you I will check things out.

Maycas, you need to do some reading and then ask more questions about what's being proposed. Start with this and see if it makes sense. Make sure to check out the pics so you'll know what's involved. http://www.webmd.com/diet/weight-loss-surgery/gastric-bypass.

This surgery can be a decent one, but it does have drawbacks. And once this is done, there's no 'going back.'

I was just diagnosed with mild dumping along with gastroparesis, figure that one out. So it seems I flip from gastroparesis to dumping. I am so confused. I was wondering if you could tell me if dumping can cause nausea and bloating too? I was told it could. I also wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat but I also get heart pounding, nausea, and lightheadedness with mine.

Well I did have a heller myotomy and nissan wrap in 1998,I hear that can cause the dumping problems but I am not sure. The dumping is bad, the pain is consistant about a level 7 if not higher I have been given many meds to help no relief. I also tried digestive enzymes, and other natural herbs which made it so much worse. I feel burning in my stomach all the time, sometimes it feels like there is so much pressure that my stomach is going to burst. I have woke up so many likes with a cold sweat in so much pain that i have blacked out. The surgery is the subtotal gastrectomy, reconstruction Roux-en-Y which i have no clue what that means.
I have not been able to talk with any of my doctors about this except one gi doctor from the NIH, which he is hestant on the surgery part of this. But my main doctor or local gi doctor and everyone i see will not get back to me that is why i am not sure about all of this. They never said anything abot a stoma or anything. But cause of all my previous surgeries they said this may cause other issues. I have had many surgeries in my abdomen. I just am not sure and I am trying to get input from people who have had this or know about it.I am looking forward to your input.
thanks

Are there 'confounding' issues, or an underlying condition that resulted in the dumping? And just how severe is the dumping?  A subtotal gastrectomy and reconstruction is a faily extensive operation. Depending on what form the reconstruction is going to take, it may relieve the dumping, but as with all operations of this magnitude, it may result in other issues that you'll have to compensate for.

I assume the pyloric sphincter is going to be removed. But what form of reconstruction are they considering? Is it duodenal or jejunal reconstruction? And where is the stoma (opening) going to be placed? Did they give you a 'name' for the reconstructive procedure?

Have you discussed this totally with your doctor?
